The Teaching English Study Abroad experience will give students hands-on experiences teaching English in a foreign language (EFL) environment. Students will have the opportunity to learn valuable teaching theory and practices while taking two out of the five required classes for a TESOL (Teaching English as a Second Language) minor. At the same time, they will get authentic opportunities to observe other teachers, plan their own lessons, and teach students in an EFL classroom.

Students will live and teach on the Ubon Ratchathani University campus in Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand (east Thailand). They will experience some of the challenges of living in a foreign country which will help them better empathize with their English as a Second Language (ESL) students. In addition, students will experience the rich culture Thailand has to offer in the planned excursions they will have around Thailand and Ubon Ratchathani. Some of these experiences will include the Ubon zoo, visiting Chang Mai and the elephant preserves, and a tour of the English programs in Ubon. Students will also participate in the Candle Festival holiday in Ubon Ratchathani. Throughout this experience, students will be prepared to interact and help their ESL students and be able to teach with basic teaching theory and practices that they have used in a real classroom setting.
